Day Two - Spring 30 Day Clutter Buster Challenge
What if we decided that living is more important than having?
It seems that everyone these days is wishing for more time. Time to read, play, learn something new, create, exercise, eat healthy, travel, etc. But how much time do we spend maintaining out stuff? Nobody wants to say, "I'm sorry kids but we can't go to the beach this weekend. We have to clean the garage." But the fact is the garage (or basement, or attic, or house) will need to be cleaned sooner or later and the less stuff we have the faster it will be.
Here is a little bit of trivia for you. Did you know that over 30% of all Americans (and Canadians I assume) cannot park their cars in their garage because of too much stuff?
Is the stuff really more important than fulfilling your wants simply because it made it through the door? "The stuff was here first," is a poor excuse not to do all the things that will make you healthier and, more importantly, happier. We all deserve better than this!
If we don't have the time to maintain our stuff then we are living beyond our means!
So with this in mind I am posting my picture of what I am decluttering today.
This is a beautiful clock that Mr. P and I received as a wedding gift. Unfortunately, it no longer goes with the decor of our home. It has been sitting in storage for years and it needs to bless someone else. It will look lovely on someone's wall, just not ours.
What are you decluttering today?

I am decluttering my fridge. It's amazing what gets pushed to the back! Any tips on how to train the rest of the family to put tall stuff on the big shelf and small stuff on the shorter shelves? LOL
ReplyDeleteWay to go Linda! If you find the answer to your question could you please let me know? And how to keep them from drinking the milk, juice or pop directly from the carton! lol
Delete...and how to keep them from putting empty containers back in the fridge/cupboard?
DeleteRight now I am working on filling a bag with clothes for Bibles for Mission. But I already know what's going out tomorrow - thanks to today's blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Willa Dale! You are doing a fantastic job decluttering your home!
DeleteToday I got rid of plastic containers that did not have lids.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Ana!
DeleteI had a clock just like that, also obtained as a wedding gift. I gave it away years ago (not to you, LOL.) As far as what I am decluttering today, do kids or pets count? I just need to know the paramaters.
ReplyDeleteUntil I get a definitive answer, I'll go with something non-viable. How about a stack of magazines I've had for several, um, a long time, now? ~Joyce
Here are the parameters for this challenge - kids, pets and husbands are NOT clutter no matter how many times they try to prove otherwise!
DeleteA stack of magazines is a great start Joyce! I'm proud of you!
